Climate Change Committee’s latest report sets out progress needed to stay on track with net zero targets
Half of homes should be installed with a heat pump by 2040 but hydrogen should not be used to heat buildings, the government has been told.
The Climate Change Committee’s (CCC) Seventh Carbon Budget report said the annual rate of heat pump installations needs to rise from 60,000 recorded in 2023 to almost 450,000 by 2030 and hit 1.5 million by 2035.
