Mary Richardson meets three young alumni of Beyond the Box who share, in their own words, how the initiative shaped their paths into architecture

In this latest instalment of our Boomers to Zoomers series, BD met with three young people from underrepresented communities who are on the threshold of careers in the built environment. The Beyond the Box alumni shared with us what they gained from their involvement with the community interest company, as well as their thoughts about the current state of the sector.

They have words of tough love that the profession should take heed of. At the same time, they are overflowing with innovative, creative ideas. A key idea that unites them is a clear moral centring of the needs of those who will use the spaces they design. Meet the future faces of UK architecture…
