I am at a drinks party, the novelty of being allowed out not yet worn off. “What do you do,” asks a tall man looking down at me. “I am an architect,” I say. 

His face clouds over and he replies: “Don’t you have to train for a terribly long time?” I say: “Yes seven years – although it really takes 10 years to properly learn our trade.”

He sighs sympathetically. “Oh poor you, and after all that you don’t earn terribly well do you, although I am guessing you do enjoy your work?” I slip away to find a hole in the busy room in which to hide.
